They are going to open on 18 July, 10 days before the Olympics, and stay filled this summer and autumn with a 15-week festival of art.
Tate Modern director, Nicholas Serota, called the Tanks incredible spaces and said the festival would be a thrilling moment for Tate. While the gallery had been a keen collector and exhibitor of installation and live art, the Tanks offered something new, he explained. "The public wishes to build relationships these works in an exceedingly different way from simply moving in with a gallery and observing the job on the ground or perhaps a wall.
"The Tanks are the first spaces dedicated permanently to call home art, installation and satisfaction in any museum building all over the world."
The newest spaces are three 30-metre-wide concrete oil tanks decommissioned greater than 30 years ago. You'll be harnessed for back-of-house even though the other two will permanently show live art, performance, film and installation along with hosting symposiums and conferences. The East Tank will probably be taken over come july 1st with a single new work by way of a Korean artist, Sung Hwan Kim, who will tell an account using drawing and writing as well as music, video, sound and sculpture.

Work in the South Tank will be "constantly changing, constantly evolving, constantly shifting. Whenever you fall you might see something totally different from that which you saw the day before, or the previous week," said the curator of film, Stuart Comer.
The very first project will feature the choreographer Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker adapting a minimalist dance work she first performed in 1982 called Fase: Four Movements for the Music of Steve Reich, consisting of three duets and something solo.

Comer said: "He is extremely considering aspects of voyeurism and sexuality, in particular your body. He'll be developing a new work for this space responding to those interests and to the room itself."
