Reef, which is one of the premier brands in surf sandals, was founded by two Argentinean brothers, Fernando and Santiago Aguerre in 1984. When the organization started it only specialized in surf sandals, but today, Reef not only offers footwear but also, swimwear along with a clothing line. It all began when the two brothers decided to take their passion for the surf existence to the next level, with their entrepreneurial endeavor of making high quality, super comfy, 'meant for the beach' sandals. To fulfill their destiny, Santiago Aguerre moved to California in the early eighties, while his brother joined him shortly, after being done with Law school. With only $4000 with regard to working capital, they took up a shared warehouse space with Rusty Preisendorfer, who else later became the founder of the famous Rusty surf label. They set shop near the Rose Canyon area and were soon on their journey to success. They knew they had a great product, but it was time they marketed it so as well. It was then that they got the idea with regard to Miss Reef. The sensual yet mysterious Miss Reef never reveals her face and consequently, the Reef sandal's advertisements, featuring Miss Reef, immediately caught everybody's interest and attention. And thus the Aguerre brothers' Reef sandals were launched into success. Needless to say, Reef now has a brand presence which spans internationally due to its unique, innovative and super comfortable products. The Reef brand offers a variety of surf sandals for men. The upper base of the sandal is made of soft, water resistant synthetic nubuck material so that your heels enjoy maximum comfort and the sandals remain durable. Keeping these needs in mind, even the outside lining is made of soft polyester. Again, so that your feet enjoy maximum comfort, the footbed used is the EVA footbed with an arch support so that all sources of stress are eliminated.
