New page

What All Do You Know About Android OS Phones?
If you keep up at all with news in the cellular world, you will know that, in terms of popularity, the Android OS is currently gaining on the Blackberry and the iPhone systems. This might be because the Android OS is used in lots of different phones. The other smart phones are starting to see some competition because this operating system is constantly being upgraded, developed and worked on. Unlike the other two major competitors for smart phones (Blackberry and iPhone) the Android/Google phones are widely varied and come in a bunch of different styles and vary in the extensiveness of their software. Here are some great facts about the Android and Google phones that you might not yet know.
Did you know that people who use phones that run the Android OS (operating system) are less likely to pay for applications than users of the iPhone? A study done recently has shown that about half of the people who use iPhones will pay for the applications they can't access for free. The same study shows that only about twenty percent of Android phone users will pay for applications. This could change as the Android market's paid app section grows but, for now, Android users are more thrifty than iPhone users. This might not seem like something to brag about but some people are very proud of this!
Believe it or not, the Android OS is based on the Linux OS. Linux is the open source alternative for people who do not want to use Windows or the most current Mac OS. There are lots of rumors flying about the real reason Google wanted to buy the system. Google is known all over the world for being a Microsoft rival. Is it any wonder that the powers that be at Google would be so quick to buy a system that promised to be a major competitor for Windows? A major benefit to using an open source system like Linux is that anybody can work on it and develop it further. This allows the company to keep their costs low and their profits sky high.
Rumors are flying around the web saying that Google might be updating the Android OS to include memory card storage capabilities. This is the one major point that the Apple iPhone has in its favor over the Android OS. If this changes, it could completely switch up the popularity of the two phones. Don't be surprised if soon there are Android phones that can operate with memory cards that have storage capabilities that will put the iPhones to shame. Google is well known for its level of competitiveness--they aim to be the brightest and best in all of their markets. The nice thing about the Android OS is the way it is able to keep up with a market that is known for evolving quite rapidly. Not many of the other wireless OS developers can say that. It is good to know that, in a competitive and always changing market, your cell phone creator is actively taking steps to keep your OS up to date. After all, being stuck with a cell phone that is obsolete is never any good. There are so many different options out there, who do you want backing your phone: the affordable and robust or the expensive and out of date?
